India - Through the Lens
I have a ton of photos from my time in India. Everything from food pictures, to a dead rat with its intestines hanging out. Seriously. I won't post too many on my blog, but I thought that a post showing off a few of the highlights might not go amiss. Plus, if you ever plan to go to India, you can maybe use the photos to prepare yourself and pick sites you want to go to versus sites you can skip.
Let's start with the dogs. I never mentioned them elsewhere, but 1) there were tons of stray dogs everywhere and 2) there were three at the place I was working. Chimmi, Cheetu-Peetu and Rusti. I took way too many pictures of them, because they're dogs and I love them. But look at those faces! Can you blame me?
There were also lots of cows. It is not a lie when people tell you that cows wander around in the streets. They really do! Cows also just simply do not care if they're in your way. If they want to stand in the center of the road and not move, that is what they will do. Generally though, they're pretty amicable and will move to the side when you honk at them. I don't really have any good pictures of the cows, but they deserve honourable mention.
Lalbagh Gardens has a bunch of resident monkeys. So obviously many pictures were taken of them.
I tried a lot of new food, and authentic versions of food I've had at home (shawarma and samosas). I also had a few 'Western' meals that were not quite the same as they would be if we were actually in the West.
And of course, I visited a lot of cool places. Bangalore Palace, Lalbagh Gardens, Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace, Mysore Palace and Brindavan Gardens to name a few. Here are some of my favourite pictures from exploring Bangalore and Mysore.
I hope you have enjoyed this brief glimpse into my time in Bangalore. Stay tuned for more pictures from my ten days of travel around the rest of India!
